Sen Monoron brought us back to the world of Cambodian contrasts. It has the look & feel of a skiing town, being placed in a tropical zone. It is the capital city of Mondulkiri province keeping a two road structure surrounded by muddy paths. As usual, you can smell heaven and hell in the same second and you can also see them at the same time.

This is a place where people come to do “sporty tourism”, and it is here were we have received the best massage ever since we got to Cambodia. Phanna knows how to stretch relax and fix every human muscle. We felt so comfy that we decided to try that painful-looking traditional Khmer treatment that consists on rubbing a metal against your skin to favour the blood circulation to the area. As she said, it wasn’t painful, but it did look very extreme.

When going for a walk, you realize how beautiful the outskirts are. In two minutes time you can find yourself inside the forest and, in one more minute, you might be staring at a lovely stream or a landscape which seems to be taken out from a painting. Animals are all around and so is a whole variety of plants.

There are many eco-bio-nature-lodges and plenty of them offer excellent views of the area, some just offer views. We got to sleep in one, Nature Lodge, without any doubts a sensible upgrade to our current lifestyle. Khmer New Year is about to come and the country takes a break that we are happy to follow.
