QUICK CHANGE

I was thinking that I had been working all day to cover all the bullets in the program and that I felt like going for a walk after having breakfast. Kampong Cham is a regular city: houses, avenues, traffic…etc so I crossed the bamboo bridge with the bicycle until the island of Koh Paen.
The bridge is only a couple of kilometres long, but everything changes in this distance! The city houses become village houses, it looks like you are far away from the city, but you are just next to it! In the island, they grow tobacco and they set the leaves to get dry under the sun. Everything is very nice. Some people called me to show me the process of the tobacco. In the middle of all that there was a scale and they insisted on me going over it, 89kg, ten less than when I started the journey. I eat well, average, but the change of environment and the exercise… well, I have to take care of myself.
I kept on pedalling, leaving cows and fields on both sides behind, they even had pomelo trees… it seemed that they had taken a little bit of every Cambodian village and they had done a summing up in this island. Beyond the path I could see the tobacco fields, covering huge extensions… so beautiful… And then, back to the city to keep on working….
