Selwyn is an Australian deaf man who has been living in Cambodia for two years, working as a coordinator to improve deaf people’s education. He lives in Phnom Penh, but he comes to Kampong Cham very often. He is the first person I want to specially thank. While I was preparing the workshops he has supported me a lot. At the beginning, in the distance, through Facebook and later, coming with me in the development of them.
Thanks too for all what I have learnt from him. Selwyn is very experienced and he gets really well Cambodian culture and manners and he can communicate it pretty well because he is also a foreigner here. I also want to thank him for solving every problem I had to face. Thanks to Selwyn, I have been able to know the different departments of DDP and the staff, for instance, Pov Sopheap, a deaf girl who travels across the villages looking for deaf people without alphabetize. They explained me all the process at her office, where she has a lot of photographs, since they contact the deaf person the first day until the end of his education. I was astonished by the images and the stories, they are doing an outstanding work.
In general I want to thank DDP staff because they have been so kind to me, easing my work a lot, thanks to everybody!
I hope we’ll meet again. With Selwyn we’ll meet for sure in Phnom Penh when we develop the workshops there.
